An Artistic Journey

This year back to Sardinia in a beautiful location: Mascaratu Country Houses, between Arzachena en Cannigione!
I give a drawing and painting workshop from October 15 to October 20 2023 and from April 14 to April 19 2024, a 6 days course!

This workshop is ideal for total beginners as well as more advanced artists.
Participants will capture the beautiful surroundings of Smaragdcoast in a sketchbook or on paper and canvas using various techniques including sketching, color mixing, and painting while finding new ways of developing ideas in an imaginative way. I will guide you through this memorable and creative journey to discovering the beautiful region and its flora.
Note: Some materials may be purchased during the course. A list of required materials will be sent before the class starts.

Optional: excursions, including a visit to an archaeological site, a walk along the beach and possibly dive, a visit to a market, and a visit to a local town. This depends on the weather and the final participants. Do not forget to bring a sunny and flexible mood, a bikini or swimming trunks, good shoes, and a sporty outfit! We want you to experience the real Sardinia.

The groups are small this time, with a maximum of 12 participants per week, all for personal attention.

6 day course, 7 overnights, 7 x breakfast and 7x dinner or lunch
Location: Mascaratu

Costs: € 1045, excluding travel costs, insurance and excursions. Local transport is not included. Depending on the registrations, whether renting two passenger cars or one minivan is better will be considered.

There are shared rooms for two people, single beds. You can book a single overnight stay, the additional cost of which is € 35 per night. Other extras such as a massage and yoga are possible.

A nice intensive workshop, by a professional artist who conscientiously sees and guides the ambitions and skills of the individual students, in a spacious, hospitable location, in a wide wild landscape. An inspiring week, from which I got a lot out of it.

I enjoyed the workshop, perfect location and delicious meals provided by Simona. Each day we did a different technique, very well explained, after which we worked on instructions. Learned a lot and also very nice on location: nice little markets or drawing on the beach. Marianne knew how to guide everyone at their own level and bring out the best in their skills. It was also very pleasant that Leontine, a Dutch woman living in Sardinia, was very helpful in organising trips to studios, markets, beaches, restaurants and agriturismo on the last evening. That made the workshop complete!

I found you to be a courageously competent teacher…who chose the right learning path for such a mixed group in terms of level. You visited every student so that you still responded to everyone’s needs that way. You were there! Only get that done! Respect.

A great experience to attend Marianne’s workshop !
A well-kept location with fantastic mountain views ! Every day there was a delicious Italian meal on the table, which definitely added value to the workshop!
There was enough space on the premises to find your own spot to paint, but you could also sit with others at the big table, something for everyone !
I realy enjoyed painting and drawing there and at the end of the day it was great fun to see all the other participants’ work during the work meeting!
We also had fun trips to nearby villages and the beach, which were great! Thanks Marianne!

An oasis of peace in the middle of the rugged nature of Sardinia, Mascaratu! An inspiring place where I explored my creative talents under the guidance of Marianne, working hard to discover which materials and techniques suit me… watercolour and pencil have a speed that appeals to me. I found out that these days, in addition to drawing and painting, we could also enjoy the culinary delights that the hostess of Mascaratu prepared for us. A week of fully enjoying and discovering what shadow does in your drawing, that everything revolves around looking very well and especially just doing and trying, highly recommended!
